With such busy working lives Helen and I are in a working couple routine. With just under an hour’s commute for us, it’s early starts, staggered showers, rushed “I love you”s, late dinners, and flops in front of the tv – our days together at the weekend are becoming so much more valuable.
Today saw our second visit to the lovely St Mark’s, Winshill. IMG_20150913_113252They even serve their post-service teas and coffees in china 🙂IMG_20150913_111536

After some lovely local pork for sunday lunch we decided finally to properly investigate the fields and forest behind our house.
Wellies on, we trundled up the fields making friends with grasshoppers on the way.

DUKE9155 DUKE9159 DUKE9176This photograph doesn’t do justice to the colours in these trees – from the rich dark reds, vivid greens, orange glows, and subtle grey greens.
DUKE9179Sadly there are fences that stopped us getting into the other woodland past our road, but we certainly enjoyed stomping through the undergrowth. Helen always on the lookout for the local roosting tawny owls.DUKE9161 DUKE9168The sun was out, so naturally we saw plenty of butterflies. Non seemed too eager I get a closer photograph though.
DUKE9180But we met some cows enjoying the views across Burton.DUKE9185We picked even more of the blackberries at the bottom of our garden. So so many, we don’t know what to do with them.IMG_20150913_135329 IMG_20150913_135402Me enjoying a freshly picked apple from the local trees.
