first things first

The first week in a new job is always an interesting one, filled with lots of new faces and names to remember, new systems, and new places – but whether its because I’m older (and hopefully wiser) or used to a university environment, I felt quite at home.

It of course helps that I have been given a lovely warm welcome by everyone I’ve met, and hopefully there is an excitement on what myself and colleagues can produce.

My new abode – feeling very lucky to have a great office area, with a lots of windows and a half decent view.

Just a little late-afternoon snapshot from the office.

It’s strange how time passes. For me this last week has felt like two.
With considerably less distractions at work, and a huge increase of free time to myself in the evenings I’ve ‘kept’ myself busy to avoid the alternative (the blues). I’ve been spending longer hours at work, and taking longer cooking meals, burning my evenings away with TV and films – all nice things to do, but I feel that there’s more to be had.

It was lovely to see friends again this weekend, especially as it was in ‘my second home’ Worcester. Not our usual thing, but we went go-karting. I haven’t been since before I learnt to drive, so was quite interesting going against good habits.

With the second week just around the corner, I’m hoping to get a good routine going, and make time to be creative for myself again!
